Types of Molds in the home

If you are not familiar with the mold growing in your house, we outlined different kinds of mold you are likely to see in the home. Depends on the color you are seeing,  there are different varieties of mold,, which can be green, orange, white, blue and black molds, some molds are harmful that the others.

Note one strain of mold can growth in different kinds of color, making it a combination of different of molds in a strain.  These makes it difficult to say exactly what type is growing in a home, unless a professional mold expert in Los Angeles comes to check it out. It’s strongly advisable to get rid of it, before it poses any health problems to any member of the family, especially kids.

Let’s take a look at the most rampant type of mold mostly found in homes.

Green Mold: Mostly caused by Stachybotrys Chartarum , this type of mold is also called, “toxic black mold” well you heard that right but do not be deceived by the mention of the color black in its alias.  When left untreated and upon continual exposure can make you sick if you a=have allergies or asthma.  It can also irritate the eyes, lungs, and the skin.

Black Mold:  Scientifically is known as Stachybotrys Chartarum, is a type of mold, that’s mostly found in-door. It usually grows in humid, dark areas of the house, like other molds, it spreads through spores released into the surrounding.

One of the characteristics of the black mold is their smelling nature. If you’ve really come across one, you will notice some musty, pungent and generally an unpleasant smell around the house. If you notice a kind of smell around to check around for any mold before it grows out of control.

Black mold can also surface with visible dark spots or rings on the wall.  These are the early signs you will notice when a mold is beginning to form. Well, it may not necessarily be a mold problem, probably due to water damage or water pooling at a spot. This is a sure recipe for mold growth.

Black mold can also grow with black color variations, the variations can appear as a stain, being black, orange, brown and/or even green specks.

Be sure to check with a professional mold inspection, to ascertain the type of mold growing in your home for a quick and well-researched remediation process.

Our Mold Inspection Procedure:

  2. Areas such as behind the walls are given special attention by our mold inspectors unit. We search for leaks, signs of water infiltration, cracks or holes, or bleached walls. This is because these areas are highly susceptible to mold pollution.
  3. Upon visual access to these areas, we verify the presence of moisture using infrared technology, which could lead to mold growth. In places where air and fresh air is lacking, and a high humidity content, mold is more likely to occur. Therefore we take care to carefully investigate these areas.
  4. The ventilation system, air cooling/heating device, damp filters and different areas are carefully examined to ensure that even smaller signs of mold growth are detected.
  5. Air Cassette samples are then taken by our licensed technician both inside and outside the property and sent to a different laboratory for examination. Any visual Mold signs are also disinfected and processed in our laboratory.
  6. We will verify the moisture of all fields examined and thoroughly record the results.
  7. All of our customers’ issues or problems are addressed by our licensed specialist.
  8. Upon receiving test results from the laboratory typically one to two working days later, we will contact the customer to see what the results are and what needs to be done if any.

No, sleeping in a molded bedroom is not safe. Should you buy a house with lead based paint?

The possibility remains if the house you choose to purchase has lead paint if it was built before 1978 unless it was renovated after that year. Sellers will also inform you if they know they have lead paint on their property.

If you intend to sell your house, disclosure of your knowledge of the presence of lead paint is legally necessary. Sales and applications of lead paint were banned in the United States in 1978. Homes older than this may still have lead present though.

Mold Inspection Houston TX

What is involved?

Several mold testing requires taking either air or a surface sample. Basically, a mold inspector “checks” the air or surface to decide what kind of mold occurs and/or if the mold found will grow in the area being examined.
